The Lecture Hall

West to the Library

Have you ever stopped to think about how information is transmitted?

The teaching stories of old were delivered in iambic pentameter, and other metered and rhymed delivery styles. Ideally, it makes a lengthy story easier to remember and to pass on to an interested audience. It also makes a story easier to tell.

Professors today deliver various lectures, often lengthy affairs, in an effort to teach something. Suppose that these ancient story telling methods were applied? Or, at the very least, teachers ought to learn some of the ancient story telling techniques.

As a Dungeon Master and as a gamer, I have resolved to try to incorporate teaching along with my gaming. I have spent a lot of time gathering information and opinions, advice and data, and I think the best thing to do with it is pass it on.

What do you think?
