| ADR and EO2k3 - EMC-ClarkKent |
|---|
We have gone to some of the UT community web sites with a release of Adrenaline Detonator Remix (ADR) announcement.
I have attached it here and hope you will spread the word and try ADR. The new EO2k3 has not been what we expected. Althought I hear they just added rocket jumping back into the MOD it is still missing something. I had a blast playin ADR and you can RJ, but it will never feel the same as EO. It is an entirely new Game Engine. So try it and let me know what you think. Here are the servers.

ADR MOD for UT2003 (Adrenaline Remix – Beta)
What is ADR? ADR is a high-powered MOD for UT2k3 that raises the UT2k3 gaming experience to a new level. By eliminating the need to find weapons (You get them all) and adding the ability to travel across maps faster (Teleport or Rocket Jumping) you will score faster than ever before.
WARNING!!! This mod is HIGHLY addictive and may not be suitable for pregnant women, people with high blood pressure or players who can’t handle speed. Known side affects are sweaty palms, nausea, 24 hour gaming marathons and possible loss of work!
All weapons are increased in speed and:
· ADR supports CTF, TDM, DM, DD and BR game types
· Many mutators can be used in conjunction with ADR
· No self damage
· Rocket Jumping (if you don’t know what this is, you have to see it to believe it)
· Shield Jumping for vertical jumps
· Lightening Gun shoots faster and more accurately
· Teleporter shoots much farther as well as faster
· Flak Cannon is deadly
· Minigun spin down time eliminated
· Pulse Gun updated (an understatement)
· No Adrenaline (You won’t need it)
· Health regeneration (Even that won’t save you)
· If you’re not careful the game can be over before you know it! ;-) | | RE: XtsGAMES - XTS-Dagger |

The Rant of the Clanner
by PestControl of the IronKnights
There is a fine line between a gamer and a clanner. These days, it seems
like most would consider the terms interchangeable. They are as different as
black and blue, yet their definitions underline one of the most important
life lessons and concepts. Everything in this world revolves around
attitude. It is a vent for our problems, concerns and emotions. Success in
one's life journey depends primarily on how one portrays oneself to all
other people. A gamer is a hobbyist.. someone who plays games as a form of
entertainment. A clanner is a gamer who lives for his close friends in their
gaming community. Attitudes for both of these classifications are generally
the same, but to be a great clanner, someone who's clan will value to the
end of their days, requires a moral and ethical fibre that is rarer and
rarer in today's super-gaming world. It is the virtue of nobility in this
industry that makes clan membership a rewarding enhancement to the game of
your choice.
Often I see people in game chats, with clan initials on their names,
swearing and belitleing their neighbors. People skip on reporting ladder
games, cheat, and pay no heed nor interest in gaining anyone's respect. My
usual thought, is that whatever clan that person is involved with, made a
fatal mistake in recruiting that person. Clans are based at their core on
friendship, not any ambitious desire to be the elite of the elite. Ambition
is a goal, not a premise for a clan. One's attitude, if good, could lead
oneself to success in any area of life. Employers will always choose the
capable and respectable person over the egocentric with qualifications as
long as santas christmas list. It is the greatest qualification of all.
Clans have a life expectancy of a very few months. Blame can often be put on
bad leadership, loss of interest of the members, or even other unforseen
circumstances related to real life. (the great unspeakable maw of
desperation for which we make the escape into the underworld of online
gaming) The greatest reason for a clan's fall is it's members. No one knows
how to deal with people. Respect for oneself and one's neighbors is all that
matters. You could be the crappiest player there ever was, but could be
valued more than any ****head with a hot rail. We must all work towards
treating each individual, whether they are clan member or not, with the
exact same etiquette. these are people afterall, not black on white text
messages. A great clanner seeks resolution of disputes. Seeks good
sportsmanship to peers, and seeks honesty. There's no greater honour than to
be praised by someone you look up to as a good human being. It means more
than anything, even a win against the #1 team. My happiness began when I
decided that people were more important than ranks. My clan flourished. I
was happy with the respect I was given. Such simplicity, which only the rare
individual seems to understand.
I have no respect for the elitist attitude. It's like actually believing
that hollywood's glamour shows it's people's true character. It is a farse,
far worse than a lie. To be respected for one's skills is great.. but the
instant you belittle a single person, or believe yourself above anyone else,
you instantly become the lowest of the low. Clans survive only when the
premise of the clan is close knit friendship, not to attain eliteness. The
goal can be eliteness. Humility and an outward generosity of character will
bring rewards that you will appreciate more than the hollow candy that is
respect for the image of the elitest gamer. How hollow it is, when you are
renouned as a fabulous plsurt, and all that anyone wishes of you is a stab
to take you down a notch and bring them up a whole rung. These people
respect skills, and don't really even care about you when it comes down to
it. They use you to raise themselves in their own eyes and the eyes of their
peers. You are a tool, and you wonder who that you interract with is fake,
only wanting something from you.
Skill is a goal to be worked on. Humility has to be the premise for your
presence in the gaming community. The greatest gamers respected in each
community may be amazing at their game, but those who become legendary are
those who treat the common player as an equal. For instance, many people
regard a certain Macleod as the best Jedi Knight player there was. This is
because he won every game he played, but always garnered a certain humility,
and could talk with a bunch of people who didn't even know who he was, and
act like a regular nice guy. There have been people since, who most likely
could have beaten Macleod at the game, but no one has achieved his level of
respect. His name is often whispered amidst the older of the current JK
players even today, years after he left the game. Having people impersonate
a gamer with fake names is one of the greatest testaments to the respect one
has gained in a game.
Aggressive Attitude should be dropped the moment you click 'connect'. If
your looking to vent, beat the living crap out of inanimate objects. The
internet is not a tool to vent rage. People get genuinely upset when a cruel
individual attacks them online. It is the greatest misconception that the
indifferent look of a chatscreen follows through to the other people.
Clans are organisations to be taken seriously. The phrase "it's only a game"
should not apply here. We are talking about human beings, friends by nature.
Care should always be taken to keep your friends happy. Arguments can be
harsh, because people inevitably say things in a way that they wouldn't word
so harshly, if it was to be spoken face to face. Hallowed be the
peacekeeper. Compromise is a skill. Not everyone has the ability to allow
someone to get what they want. In most squables, it can work out to be best
by giving them part of what they want, without compromising what you believe
to be the right course of action. Endless drawn out fights, where choosy
words end up insulting others, perpetuating the whole affair end up becoming
counter-constructive. You are no longer talking about the issue at hand! The
proper, professional way to handle it is to state in a clear manner why you
believe something should be as so, and back it up with clear evidence, on
how it could help the clan. The clan is more important than yourself, but
only when the clan values your membership. Humility applies here, in the
ability to say "you proved me wrong, I concede." It takes a strong
individual to do something like this, and I tell you.. when I've been
arguing something for awhile, and get proven wrong, nothing feels as good
(save winning the argument) than proclaiming yourself the loser. Peace is
attained. The gaming continues. Entertainment and joy returns promptly.
Clan commitments are not E-Commitments. They are not disposable simply
because your name is an alias, and you speak with a keyboard. When you join
a clan, you agree that this is a group in which you pledge your service.
When I see clans break up due to simple little squabbles, it sickens me.
Where is your loyalty? Fight to retain your clan's identity. Always ask
yourself what is best for the clan, not what is best for yourself. Leaving
because of a lul in activity, or because of a few disputes is jumping ship.
There's no other term for it. Like all things in life, clanning is something
that needs to be worked on. If you wanted to come online to relax and have
no responsibilities at all, then dont join a clan. Just hang out. You
probably wouldnt enjoy the stress of competetive tournaments anyway. People
are people are people. Clans are commitments. If people had good attitudes,
and lived to further the goals of the clan, while respecting the clan's
premise, then the clan would outlive the game they play. That brings a whole
new set of transitionary problems that I wouldn't want to get into. However,
if you've made it to this point, there's nothing that can seperate the
group. You'd feel confident in saying you trust the members of the clan with
your life sometimes, despite you maybe not even knowing their last names,
let alone having ever met them in person. A year, 2 years, 3 years... clans
can live that long if the premise is right, and the goals dont belie that
central premise. Your friendships will grow, and when you don't even care
about gaming anymore, when you drift off, you will have fond memories, and
would be a member of that clan for eternity, despite them just being a bunch
of has-beens who enjoy their company from rare time, to rare time. Bottom
line with loyalty, is that the clan is most important. If there is a problem
with your clan, work with the members to solve the problem through effective
healthy communication to everyone in the group. Don't say "They suck, I'm
going to find a new home" because it will follow you. Stick with your
commitments... having been a faithfull clan member is the second route to
great respect. That, and the first one I outlined, create those people you
will remember far longer after the game becomes a 'bargain bin special'. You
wont even remember the names of the elite players. You would retain the
bonds with those you shared your close clan with.. even years later after
seeing them again. Expressions like my own clan's "IRN4LIFE" are healthy, in
that it is a constant reminder of the oath we all took towards eachother.
We've endured so long, I don't even remember who first implimented this
code. You can count whole ages pass by.
An internet community, especially a gaming community, is like life in a
bottle, as I say. You will find aspects in any given community to reflect or
represent aspects in real life. It should be a representation on how you
treat people. That truly is all that matters in any aspect of life, online
or not. You will reap what you reward, and as the eternal clich© goes:
"Treat others as you would have them treat you" is something we all hear and
disregard, if you pair it with an equally anoying anecdote: "What goes
around, comes around", then you get: "You will reap what you have sewn". Be
a misurable person if you don't care for respect, or happiness.. just
prepare for a negative reaction.
A good gamer is not necesarily a clanner or a good clanner, but a good
clanner is always a good gamer. They are the highest class sportsman and
promoter of ethics and values. No sport today other than online gaming,
permits such an open atmosphere for commentaries and opinions to be thrown
about by the gamers themselves, professional competitors, and even
bystandards. This breaks down the barriers, and makes it even more important
to show a great charisma. No one even asks what City, or even what Country
another person lives in.
I hope someone takes this message to heart. Far too many people are wasted
in these gaming communities, lost to the whole idea of being an elite pro.
Consider every action and statement you make. I want the communities and
games to improve to a maturity level which reflects our technological level.
That is my point here... maybe someone can learn from my hard long story and
not live to repeat my mistakes. Feel free to email me, I love to speak with
people with similar or even opposing views.
My final word of the day, is that the skills learned through the long term
partnership in a gaming clan has taught me the values I cherish today. What
I have expressed in this rant is at the core of my spirituality. Nothing in
life is completely seperate from the rest of your life. It comes together in
a great circle where your misdeeds haunt you, and your glorious victories of
the character bring sheer enjoyment of the world. Let yourself be free of
the selfish needs to be elite and powerful. Live as a commoner and a friend
to all, even those who you really want to beat in that next tournament, and
you'll be rewarded in that community more than you'll ever expect by being
the best player. I've received the meaning of life, I believe. Simply
through that which people denote "just a game".

Since we all want to be off this mass mail I thought I would use the time to spread the word. EMC has pending matches with AEX & XTS and a CFH rematch to schedule. Any team that wants to scrimmage with us just let me know via e-mail. Please don't reply to all of the people listed above! hehe
UTX match rules:
5 or 6 players per team, guest players allowed, 3-5 maps, 10 caps in 15 minutes, no forfiets.
2 PG matches resulted in forfiets today due to not enough players, what a waste of peoples time. If they allowed guest players they would have played! Oh well, I look forward to playing each of you.

Please welcome 2 new teams to the UTX family of fragging friendly fun. The "Revelation" and "PooP" teams are ready to accept challenges and we are glad to have them. here are their team captains e-mails and remember the UTX rules to allow guest players in their matches.
Revelation is new to EO and PG and likes the UTX format of inviting a guest player to make the match close if possible, cause we hate blowouts right guys? Please asist them and help them learn the tricks of the MOD. They have the potential and they are learning quickly.
PooP is an interesting group of college students from Texas A&M university. I met them by e-mailing the author of the CTF-map Phreaks. It on Metropolis now and it is a wild map. They play UT at 135% speed and low gravity. Now thats excessive if you ask me so they will be perfect in EO. They have solid talent too but still need to learn the tricks of the MOD. PooP will challenge you to Low Gravity matches so get ready to blast off with them.

Clark | | FINAL UTX Tourney Info - XTS-Dave |
|---|
Captains, League members, Newbies...lend me your ear!!
What follows is this:
- The rules for the tourney.
- The tourney structure
- The first round match ups
- Final Tourney maplist
What won't follow:
- The exact servers that the first round matches that will be used on day 1. That info will come in the next two days.
FIRST ROUND MATCHUPS:
SLR vs P
AEX vs EMC
NME vs CFH
XTS vs NRG
TOURNEY MAPLIST:
CTF Breathe
CTF Pyro
CTF TwinCaverns
CTF Deck16
CTF Abase
CTF Accelerator
CTF ProjectX2
CTF Hydro
Tourney Structure
Each round will be a best 2 out of 3 maps. If a team wins the first two maps, the match is over; the third map is not played. This is to keep things moving. After each round, a team representative will go to the IRC channel #UTX and report the results of the match to me (Dave Turd). Then once all of that rounds' matches are played, each team rep will get instructions on which server to go to next and against whom. That rep will then inform the rest of his team.
Each server will have ALL 8 of the tourney maps in random order. When the two competing teams log onto a server to play, the server admin will make sure that the match is set for 6v6 or 5v5 depending on the situation, and the map that is up will be the first match map. You will play the three maps that come up, you dont get to select which ones to play. SO PRACTICE ALL 8 MAPS ahead of time, so that you will be ready whatever the map.
We will try to get through three rounds on Saturday the 20th, and play the final rounds on Saturday the 27th. On both Saturdays, the action will begin at 11 am Pacific (2 pm Eastern) and will (hopefully) continue until three rounds are finished. There will be an hour break at some point for grub/smokes/whatever.
The tourney is a double elimination tournament, so it is possible for a clan to lose once, and still win the tournament, as SLR did in our first Tourney. Once your team loses twice, you're out of the tourney.
TOURNAMENT RULES:
* Tourney mode will be enabled.
* All UTX Tournament servers should have identical settings.
* All UTX Tournament servers should have one and only one version of EO running (to be determined before each tourney). We will be using EO 1.0.
* Guest players will be allowed under these conditions only: if a team knows ahead of time that they will be short a player (2 at the most), select a guest and announce it AT LEAST TWO DAYS before the tourney, so that all participating team captains can give the ok.
* Maplist/first round opponents will be made know to each clan 1 week before tourney time to allow adequate prep time.
* If a match erupts into a flame war for ANY reason, both teams will be booted from competition.
* No spectator slots will be open, to minimize lag.
* Matches can be 4 on 4, to 6 on 6, to be decided by the two matching clans before the match starts.
This constitutes the bulk of the tourney info. If there are any changes, you will be notified immediately (how's THAT for "official sounding" mumbo jumbo?).
Let me know ASAP if you have any questions/comments/complaints/suggestions.

Clark | | Once and for all Test Plan for EO - EMC-ClarkKent |
|---|
I had proposed a testing plan for the new version of EO on the PG forum and have gotten many positive responses to the concept. More positive then negative I might add. Some of you volenteered, some I just selected as people who care enough to help. You are not obligated to anything but since you losers ;-) play UT extensively as I do I am asking for your assistance. I need every General protection Fault no matter what version of EO you play recorded and documented. EO1.0 & EO1.7 are getting GPF's and I think the new version GPF's are related to the old EO1.0 problems. If you don't know how to screen capture a EO GPF here's how.
When the GPF occurs hit the "Print Screen" button on the upper right part of your keyboard. Then open MS-Word and do a "Shift-Insert" or "Edit-Paste" onto the document. Please write down your PC configuration on the same document. PIII 800mhz, 128mb ram, Windows 98SE, etc. The more information we get the sooner we will fix it.
Why are we doing this? Just ask yourself why this EO MOD we adore is so unpopular? Because EO1.0 is buggy, the shock spam is incredible, the redeemr works like a snowball not a rocket, the minigun is broken, and the newbie Instant Rocket spam ruins the experience with even more spam. Just look at the last SLR-NRG match nonsense, it got so ugly that DarkWench almost got our PG ladder shut down. People who never played EO1.0 LOVE the new version. It's just that many of us were weened on EO1.0 and are not open to change. People are free to run whatever version they want on their servers. But we started this process for very good reasons and BlackDagger and I have put too much time into it to drop it. I want to finish it and adopt it. As far as I am concerned EO1.0 is dead-code for me.
Thanks in advance,

OK, Gents....
It looks like more of you will be able to attend this saturdays match. I have 5 confirmed yes's and 1 no. 2 or 3 more yes's and we'll be set.
The Maplist for the match will be as follows, in the order that they will be played:
CTF BridgeXL
CTF Horus
CTF Carpe Vexillium
CTF Bremelia
CTF 2Simple
There will be a warm up map first.
Here's how it will be set up. The first 3 maps will count as the PG ladder match. The final two maps tacked on at the end will make it also an official UTX match. Woohoo!
Those that have confirmed (Defrag, Dagger, Carnage, DeafSparky and John) Please make sure you have downloaded these maps and are familiar with them. I will be handing out offense and defense assignments as soon as the final match roster is set (I need the rest to commit one way or the other). That will be by friday at the latest.
Remember, the match is at 11 am Pacific (which is 2 pm eastern) and is at Clarks new server 63.99.212.108, password emcxts2.
Talk to you again soon.

Gentlemen, you may want to begin wondering why on earth I am the captain.
Yes, the day, time, and just about all of the rest of the details surrounding our match with EMC have changed. IT ALL CHANGED, DANG IT!
I hate that this has to happen. It will probably work out for the best, but still....it means getting a fresh set of responses from you all...and, to be honest, getting responses from most of you is worse than pulling teeth! Some of you will not respond no matter what I do/say!
Anyway, on to the NEW INFO.
New Match time:
Saturday, December 15th at 11 am Pacific time. This will be good news to some, and maybe not-so-good news to others.
New format:
It will be a best of 5 instead of a best of 3. We will play the PG maps first (to make it a PG Ladder match) then add two more maps to make it a legit UTX clan match as well. 2 birds, one stone. That means more play time for everyone that can make it.
Same server, same password.
New shout out:
Please, I know you hate this...but I need to know all over again if you can make it Saturday...Why does setting matches have to be this crazy all of the time? All right! Who just said "Because of Captain Turd"!? Who said it?! Stand up!
Anyway, perhaps now more than 3 people will be able to show up, and those that do will get more play time...
Let me know if you can make it, and we'll go from there.

OK, here's some up to the moment info...
I'm getting questions about whether this Thursdays match is still a go or not...Clark Kent didnt realize he had to finalize the match, and so time expired at it was ruled a forfeit. This unfortunate occurance angered both Clark and myself, so we wrote emails to Undertaker to see if we can reverse the decision, and get it re-instated for Thursday. I have yet to hear back from him, but either way, the match WILL GO ON Thursday at 7 pm Pacific, at Clarks new server "Clark's Castle" (I liked "Metropolis" better as a name). Again, the IP is 63.99.212.108. The question only is whether the match will be an official PG ladder match or not.
Next, another new server is up! It is Hall of Souls 2! Woohoo! Chaos wants tons of people to play there, so add it to your list, if you will: 63.99.212.111
It's a Dual 1GHz Athlon MP system with a gig of RAM....14 player max...sounds good to me...except he's using primaruly the PG map list.
In any case, we still have only 4 confirmed "yes's" for Thurdays match...
Please respond soon if you are on this list:
Dagger
Defrag
Cobra
Falcon
MODatic
Thanks again...hope you are having a relatively calm Holiday season.

XTS Dave Turd | | Quick Update - XTS-Dave |
|---|
Hello, gentlemen...
Here's a quick update so you won't think I'm a slacker.
We are up on the PG Ladder now (thanks to Carnage) and are preparing to receive and issue challenges. The moment one is set, I will let you know, since it appears that matches take place within a week of both sides confirming the challenge. These matches are best 2 out of 3 maps, and at this point, I'm not sure how they determine which maps will be played. I know a final ladder map list was decided before the ladder officially began.
Anyway, I will let you know. There are not just UTX teams on there, but other regular UT clans are signing up to see what its all about, so we'll see some fresh talent (read: newbies to slaughter).
Hopefully, there will be many of these quick matches...I will probably have it so that the first 6 to 8 XTS members that respond when I email out a notice of a scheduled match will play. Or something. No sense in all 13 of us showing up if it's going to be 2 or 3 maps...we'd all get to play once, a few of us twice (maybe) if we all show. I'll try to work things out to keep it fair for all that wish to participate. The matches appear to be at 10pm Eastern for the weekday matches.
Next, Dagger is still ready and willing to update your personal pages on the XTS site. He's got a lot to look at there already: A members only section, a high score hall of fame (send in your screen shots of high scores!), a news section, and a new "slap Dave Turd" game that you can play to accumulate points and redeem them for cash and prizes.
Ok, I made that last part up, but it would be cool.
I hope you are all having a nice holiday season. Drive safely, for crying out loud! That's an order! I am your captain! Obey me! Muahahahahahaha!
As usual, if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to email me.

Hello, gentlemen,
I wanted to keep those interested up to date on whats going on with the clan and league. There are some changes on the way, and some fun stuff as well.
First, I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. Good, now thats out of the way! Muahahahahaha!
OK, next, the website is looking good. Some of us have some cool personal info on our mini-pages, and some of the pages are pretty bare. I highly recommend kicking some cool art/pics/info to Dagger so he can get your mini-pages in tip-top shape. Stop by the site and take a look at QuickDraw's gameface, and also the amazing, rubber-faced Dave Turd and his daughter Katie.

Next, theres a double-elimination UTX tournament in the works for the end on January. It will (hopefully) involve all of the UTX clans, running matches simultaneously on several different servers. The #UTX chatroom on IRC will be the tournament staging area, and the rounds will be best 2 out of 3 maps. Once a clan loses to two other clans, that clan is eliminated from the tourney. The finals will be a best 3 out of 5, and then an "all star" exhibition game will take place after the finals.
At this point, the tourney will be on Saturday the 26th of Jan, with the finals and the all-star game the next weekend, on Sat, Feb 2. Further times and details as they are solidified.
Each team will submit a map for the tourney map rotation, and all matches will take place on these maps. The all-star game will work like this: The winning clan will choose two of it's members to be the all-star captains. These two captains will then each pick a member from each clan. The result will be two all-star teams that each have a member from each clan on it. This seemed like an easier system than trying to have a voting system, or a system that crunched the stats from the tourney and chose by performance. Both the finals and the exhibition game will be broadcast on UTV, so everyone can watch if they want to.
Next, the league government is soon going to change. Clark called me today and said he's sick of it all, and was on the verge of folding the league. Instead, after a lengthy conversation with SLR Chaos, they decided to create a council of sorts to run the league instead of having Clark run it all. In any case, starting in January, there will be a 5 member council that will run the league, that will handle all concerns, complaints, problems, and any other type of league-related decisions. At this point, those that have agreed to be on the committee are Clark, Herk, Chaos and myself. There will be one more, possibly Motion Man.
Bottom line, I guess it doesn't exactly effect the day-to-day operations of XTS, but I wanted to keep you all informed. I'll still be captain of XTS, unless you guys vote me out or something :)
Speaking of XTS, I apologize for the lack of activity. Clans dont want to battle with us at this point, for various reasons. That will change in January.
I hope you are all enjoying your holidays. Talk to you all soon.
