Very Deep Pit

The passages north and south are 50' wide, rough hewn stone, with some rough areas here and there. Drips from cave formations occasionally splash the ground, and occasional streamlets cut across the passage.

The passages cuts through a very large sinkhole, a shaft ascending and descending as far as the eye can see. The sinkhole is 80' around, and edged with crumbing stone on all sides. If the party can see over 80' they can see the passage continuing on the other side.

Inconveniently, the shaft is also a dead magic zone. The edges of the pit allow magic to work fitfully, so someone with spiderclimb might be able to navigate around the edges, but they run a risk of having stone crumble away from the walls (1% per 2 lbs).

The northern passage leads down to a vast underground lake.

On the far (southern) side of the shaft, the weave has some differences, noticable by any wizard casting detect magic, or attempting to cast spells. The main effect is the suppression of Teleport spells, but there are sure to be other as yet undiscovered properties.

The party wizard has theorized that the alteration to the weave is actually coming from from one of their foes, the Laughing Skull, but this has not been proven either way.

The southern passage leads to an intersection.
